THE NEW ATTITUDE

What you become is not a result of what happens to you; it is a result of how you think about what happens to you.

It is useless to try to change your outer world unless you first change your inner world. If you attempt to make external changes before doing the necessary inner transformation, the outer world will just keep repeating the same pattern. The movie Groundhog Day illustrates a very entertaining lesson in how we keep re-creating the same situation over and over again until we change our mind. The moment our attitude shifts, so does the situation.

If you want or love something a great deal, you will attract it into your life. And if you fear or worry about something with emotional intensity, you will attract the object of your fear. The universal manifestation machine is unbiased in turning your thoughts into reality.

If you are not aware that your thoughts are powerful, you will spend a great deal of time thinking and talking about what you do not want, and you will receive more of the same, and on and on, until your life is a mess and you have no idea why. You will identity yourself as victim, find people who agree with you; and discover news stories, scientific studies, and all manner of evidence to prove that life is unfair and you are just a pimple on the complexion of the universe.

There is another way. You weren’t born to live small, and you don’t have to. You can shift your attitude now and begin to think about what you do want instead of what you don’t want. Then, the universe will have no choice but to give you what you are concentrating on in your favor, instead of against it.

Worry is the power of creation turned against your own best interests. The same engine that runs your car in reverse will move it forward if you but reposition the gearshift. To shift from reverse to drive, reframe your experiences to find the blessing rather than the problem. Then you will become the master of your universe, rather than its victim.

What you become is not a result of what happens to you; it is a result of how you think about what happens to you.

Here is your antidote to worry: Choose a phrase that brings you release, relief, and empowerment, such as “Peace, be still,” or “Love is the answer.” Whenever worry begins to set in, consciously and meditatively repeat your positive phrase until you return to peace. The mind is capable of paying attention to only one thought at a time. If you focus on ideas that uplift you, your mind will be unable to dwell on fearful issues. Eventually you will develop the habit of positive thinking, and the worry that once haunted you will have no reality.

I Feel Good Right Now

Do NOT underestimate the POWER of FEELING GOOD right now! Such a simple decision to allow yourself to feel good can change your entire day and how you do anything you do as you feel good doing it.

For example when I listen to a song that’s makes me blast it really loud and bob up and down like I’m at a crazy rock concert and scream Yes!!!!! Yessss!!!!!!!! YEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!! (but really it’s a dubstep concert), the appreciation for the awesomeness of that one song can make me feel so empowered and happy to be alive just so I can listen to that one song and repeat it as many times as I want.

It’s all about positive vibes!

Allow yourself to feel good. Find the source and get on with your days.

Free Relationship Advice

This song is called “Let Me Go” and it’s about the difficulties that couples face when having to deal with long distance relationships. As some of you may know, a long distance relationship can be very difficult to maintain. Click this link for free relationship advice.  Not just because of the time apart, but also because of the thoughts that your mind is left to ponder about. In some instances, for example the entertainment industry, there can be influences surrounding your career.

Influences such as sex, drugs, and a rock n roll lifestyle. If one of the partners in the relationship is weak at heart, then there is a good chance that person may begin to feel insecure, worried, lonely, or even neglected. They say an idle mind is the devils workshop. With that said you can only imagine the kinds of problems that could potentially arise from being apart from the person you love for weeks, or even months at a time. It’s not easy.

So I had to write my thoughts on how I felt about this situation.

I wrote it in hopes to connect with the listener in such a way that would inspire a person to take action towards figuring out a solution to their potential problem.

For example, if a person is dealing with a long distance relationship now and they are having doubts about staying with the person they love, then maybe this song will send a jolt of reassurance your way, reminding you that the bad isn’t so bad because Love conquers all and the time apart is just temporary.

Having faith in your partner and your relationship is a great way to keep the relationship pumping at a positive frequency. If your partner that is away knows that you are strong-hearted and able to maintain a positive outlook on the whole situation, not only will your partner be able to focus better on his/her job, but he/she will feel compelled to continue being his/her Best Self in hopes to make you proud. Then when the person comes back, there’s a good chance your relationship will be stronger than ever.

But let’s say your partner is away and your at home dealing with loneliness, insecurity, fear, anger, and neglect, then there’s a possibility that you will drive yourself crazy coming up with all sorts of scenarios in your mind that will not only be detrimental to your health, but also to your relationship as well. In this case it would be best to do what the song suggests and just Let It Go.

You will both be better off knowing that you won’t have to deal with all the invisible negative energy that surrounds the relationship. It is much easier said than done, but it is a situation that must be dealt with appropriately. If like attracts like, and you are consistently attracting negative thoughts, then the only result that is coming your way is more negative thoughts, more fears, and more unnecessary self-inflicted confusion. Nobody wants to feel bad energy. So do whatever you have to to make yourself feel good.
Remember. “Do what’s Right, and what feels Good”.

Enjoy,

Marcos

The Reset: A Performance Seminar

What is all about?

It’s a performance based seminar. Ill be treating the event as a motivational seminar and ill use music in between each segment to tap into people emotional response to what’s being said.

The concept is a RESET. A mental and emotional detachment from all things that lead us to be ungrateful and unthoughtful of how precious the power of thought is.

I’ll be playing the piano as well as a professional pianist (JD Keyz) and an amazing electric guitarist. (Mike Ruggiero)

Think Pink Floyd meets Anthony Robbins.

Connected Musically

New Verse. Just Written. Connected Musically (By Spartan Productions)

The only thing that makes me feel absolutely incredible about myself is writing verses. It’s like no matter how much BS I go through mentally, the one thing that brings me euphoria is the sound of music. I can be going through hell physically or emotionally, but as long as I have a beat to write on or a piano to play, I am at myBestSelf.

I may not achieve all the goals that I had originally set out for myself through music, and that’s ok. As long as I can keep being authentic with what I put out to the universe I feel like I am being the best I can be.

The creations that I manifest are the ultimate healing tool that I possess. I am one with my purpose and I intend on sharing with you all of the ways that I have thrived to become myBestSelf in hopes to aspire to inspire you to become yourBestSelf.

With Love,

- Marcos

Connected Musically

Lets take a minute to think about the probabilities that there’s a possibility that we can feel liberation.

a thought can lead you to creations that can touch entire nations by the power of vibrations

Trust the connection that you share inside a session with producers with obsessions that can cultivate the message.

Your the one with the potential that can make you feel light
It’s like I have something I’m proving when I’m grabbing the mic

I’m breaking free from barriers
I’m breaking free from fights
I’m breaking free from anxiousness
I feel like I’m alright
Just because I’m feeling pressure from certain things in life
I know that I will make it cuz I’m wicked with this mic

It’s like survival of the fittest
I can finally admit it
I was holding back my power
I even thought about just quitting
But the love I felt from spitting made me feel like I was winning
So I had to keep on writing
And accept a gift that’s given.

How Great Are You

We all have infinite potential. Use the video below to inspire you to be yourBestSelf today.

“I will tell you how GREAT I AM”

“I am powerful BEYOND MEASURE”

“Everyday in Every way, I am getting better and better”

“I’m so mean I make medicine sick”

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
- Marianne Williamson

;

This video demonstrates the power of knowledge and will power. We as humans have the potential to overcome all obstacles. Our bodies are designed to take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal, take beatings and heal….Get it? Good!

We often find ourselves in difficult situations that are caused by our own choices that we make. Daily, we have options to be ourBestSelves, or to ignore such a privilege. It is usually much easier to decide to take the smoother path in life, rather than the rough roads that are often laid out in front of us. Either way, the roads we choose come with their own sets of challenges. To be conscious of the challenges ahead is what makes us responsible for our actions.

Motivation isn’t the tool that is used to be ourBestSelves. Motivation is the process of consviousness that is adapted to our daily purpose. We use motivation to guide us through the obstacles that we are faced with. Fear, or otherwise known as FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL, is often the clutch that we use to keep us from achieving goals. Lets learn to understand/overstand our fears and think carefully about the next steps that we choose to use to allow us to get to our goals.

Believe in yourself….

We All Share Common Goals

Personally I think that this may be one of the greatest verses that I have ever written.  I have been battling demons for a very long time, and lately I have told those demons to fuck off and let me live in peace.  Since I have made this radical change in my life, I have found that many things are changing.

” There’s a war on humanity I’ve challenged insanity My body’s gone clean So my mind can’t be mad at me The Change has been made See you later self hate The headaches are gone I can continue with fate”
I find it fascinating that the human mind and body can endure so much abuse.  Manipulation is at the forefront of it all.  We trick ourselves so often that we eventually allow our minds to take the fall while our bodies take the beatings.  Eventually both the mind and the body just adapt to the circumstances amid which we decide to live by and we slowly deteriorate.
Well not anymore….at least not for me….

This song resonates deeply with me because of a couple reasons.
1. I wrote the verse in 10 minutes
2. I had such a clear mind when I was writing it.
3. Performing it gives me a thrill.

I haven’t been writing songs as much as I used to.  The burning desire in me that makes me want to create music so often is a desire that I have learned to control.  There used to be attachments to all the songs I would write.  Sub-consciously I would have expectations from each song  I created.  Was it fame that I wanted?  No, not necessarily.  I think it was acknowledgment that I craved.

The airwaves are polluted with music, and unless I’m signed to a major label, or do something incredibly stupid and capture it on film, my youtube channel isn’t going to hit the hundreds of thousands of hits that I used to aspire to have so much.

These days I just write for the sake of contribution.  I feel very proud to be a part of this global movement that Niko Sofianos has created.  Project Youniverses aims to musically unite humanity, give rise to conscious hip-hop, and present an opportunity for artists worldwide to express their love, pain, beliefs, philosophies, and experiences covering various topics from current world issues, to peace and harmony. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Project-YOUniverses/300104530099694

Read the lyrics below and watch the video.  Let’s get the word out.  Share this if you support the cause.

Thanks for reading,

Marcos

A Common Goal

There’s certain liberties involved When a human has evolved It’s a simple understanding that a problem has been solved As the world keeps turning my eyes keep learning Heart keeps yearning Spirit keeps earning From all walks of life We rap to survive Writing is the method that connects us to our soul I never feel alone cuz we share a common goal Project youniverses is spreading through the globe/

Theres a war on humanity I’ve challenged insanity My body’s gone clean So my mind can’t be mad at me The Change has been made See you later self hate The headaches are gone I can continue with fate Repetition is the mother of skill The way I bring it is ill I give it up to my will Because I got this Flows like a mystery You wonder like its Loch Ness Who in the universe wouldn’t wanna cop this/

Resistance

There will be a series of posts coming up related to Steven Pressfields incredible book titled “The Art of War”. For now, I will introduce you to an excerpt from Part 1 of his book.

RESISTANCE AND UNHAPPINESS
What does Resistance feel like?

First, unhappiness. We feel like hell. A low-grade misery pervades everything. We’re bored, we’re restless. We can’t get no satisfaction.

There’s guilt but we can’t put our finger on the source. We want to go back to bed; we want to get up and party. We feel unloved and unlovable. We’re disgusted. We hate our lives. We hate ourselves.

Unalleviated, Resistance mounts to a pitch that becomes unendurable. At this point vices kick in. Dope, adultery, web surfing.
Beyond that, Resistance becomes clinical. Depression, aggression, dysfunction. Then actual crime and physical self-destruction.

Sounds like life, I know. It isn’t. It’s Resistance.

What makes it tricky is that we live in a consumer culture that’s acutely aware of this unhappiness and has massed all its profit-seeking artillery to exploit it. By selling us a product, a drug, a distraction. John Lennon once wrote:

Well, you think you’re so clever and classless and free
But you’re all fucking peasants As far as I can see

As artists and professionals it is our obligation to enact our own internal revolution, a private insurrection inside our own skulls. In this uprising we free ourselves from the tyranny of consumer culture.

We overthrow the programming of advertising, movies, video games, magazines, TV, and MTV by which we have been hypno- tized from the cradle.

We unplug ourselves from the grid by recognizing that we will never cure our restlessness by contributing our disposable income to the bottom line of Bullshit, Inc., but only by doing our work.

It Works!!!

Since the entire concept of this blog is to share awareness and life experience on how I am becoming myBestSelf, I’d like to share something new that I have stumbled upon this week.

I meet so many people on a weekly basis that tell me stories about their lives and how they strive to become their Best Self. I listen closely and respond with support and guidance. It amazes me the amounts of people that actually do not care about the finer details of their own lives. So many people are conscious of positive change, but do not follow through with their inner desires to actually start making that change that they long for.

I can admit to being one of those people that is conscious of positive change but have not followed through with my inner desires to make a change that I long for….until recently!

2 weeks ago I began to make some life changing decision that have proven to work in my favor.  I took a leap of faith in myself and started to change my daily routine.  Old habits started to disappear and new habits started to appear. I decided to put forward a good effort to cleaning up my health via mental, emotional, and physical.

I have learned that one of my biggest problems is wanting change right away.  This mentality of having high expectations has proven to be detrimental to my health.  Having expectations of anything isn’t a good thing, yet having expectations of seeing results from physical exercise and cutting off bad habits involving what you put into your body isn’t good either.

Now with that said, I’d like to introduce you to a product I have stumbled upon that actually GIVES RESULTS IMMEDIATELY!  It’s funny because this product goes against everything that I just said above.  It’s remarkable!

The product is called ” IT WORKS – THE ULTIMATE BODY APPLICATOR”

A good friend of mine decided to take some initiative to cut some inches off of her belly by trying a Body Wrap that she heard about in a mall.

I was with her when she measured her waist line before the wrap, and I was with her 45 minutes later when she took it off.  To my amazement, when she measured herself after the treatment, she lost 3 inches off of her belly!

lol

I couldn’t believe it! So I dug deep into the world of The Ultimate Body Applicator to see how “it works”.

Here is how it breaks down… (Remember, the ingredients in the wrap are all natural, plant extracts and botanicals, very healthy “food” for your skin and deeper tissues.)

A. The ingredients promote Lipolysis. This literally means “fat-breaking”. The plant extracts and gets into the fat cell and chop up the large fat molecules into little ones, which are now allowed to leave the cell. They are then burned up as energy somewhere else in the body, which is one reason why we want you to be well hydrated while you are using the applicators.  This will help circulate the little fat molecules that are being released. This is HUGE and very important to know because the applicators (Body Wraps) are literally promoting FAT LOSS during this process!
B. The ingredients also release toxins from the fat cell.   A major function of fat cells is to store toxins, so if we can release toxins, then we can achieve a shrinking of the fat cell.
C. The ingredients improve the micro-circulation of the area being applied to. This is what creates some of that tightening, firming and toning effect. Fat tissue requires a great deal of blood vessels and such; if we can improve the micro-circulation then we can improve the overall health of the area.
D. They have an anti-inflammatory effect. Fat tissue is terribly inflamed because of all the toxins and such. Again, we get tightening, firming and toning because we’ve increased the overall health of the area applied and reduce the inflammation of the skin.

I signed up as Distributor so I have packages for sale!

Love Just Comes and Goes

Love Just Comes and Goes – A “poem” by Marcos Mendosa

She says she doesn’t understand Why i’m not holding her hand
Theres certain things to know
Like love just comes and goes
How powerful is woe
As power comes and goes
She always says she knows
That she can love me head to toe
As flaws just come and go
She accepts it and she knows
The differences we hold
There’s stories to be told
Time will pass we’ll know
How this story can unfold
Life can be so cold
And she loves that I am bold
Strong
Sensitive
Daring
Caring
People share the same songs
The same stories
same glory
Running and escaping from the Things that we are all afraid of
Really what are dreams what are dreams really made of?
It’s all about Love
Shared between another
To sacrifice it all would be like rising from the gutter
She says that she can love me with the same love as my mother
Heavy words indeed
She just planted a seed
That will need some heavy watering
Or maybe not at all
hearts can be so hollow
Based on your experience
Other people fall
While others they just stall
Love is put on hold
Cuz fear turns to normality
It’s a fucked up tragedy
It’s all about perspective
That’s why people are confused and selective
They pick and choose their lovers so that they can have control but really what’s the point of having un corazón.

Quick ill make a little suggestion
Learn to take things as they come
The fact that someone loves you means to them you’re number one
You can either just embrace it
Or choose that you will run
Think about what’s best for you in this moment
Living in the now
Will give you power like you own it
You’ll be happier than ever
And slowly you’ll get better
Just be glad someone cares and accept a new endeavor
It’s nice to be acknowledged and eventually remembered……

Definitely My Kind of Love

My Dream Job

There is a lot that can be said under such an extravagant title.  “A Dream Job” can consist of so many things.  People all around the world would define it differently and I think that’s great that people have so much aspirations to live their lives to the fullest.   Dream jobs can be so many different things.

I recently wrote out my dream job in a journal entry (hand written this time) and I couldn’t help but get really excited as I wrote it.  Just the thought of it had me extremely motivated.  After I finished writing the entry I noticed that my dream job consisted of reaching a certain level of success that would allow me to do such things with my time.  I would ultimately already have to be rich to be able to do such a “job”.  I thought to myself, “that’s not right, I shouldn’t have to already be financially well off to be able to live my dream job”.

So I started to write out plans on how I can mold my life to such a way that would allow me to actually live my dream job without having to reach a certain level of success to be able to get there.  Believe me when  I tell you that it was tough figuring that out. Ideally it would really all come down to me getting really good at “the work”, and then just getting hired under a company like this:
http://www.aerialfilmwork.com/stockfootage/

My Sagittarius nature tends to lead me to have high aspirations and over ambitious goals, but it’s all good.  I like the challenge.  I strive on it.  Life is good when there’s challenges.  There is such a great satisfaction that I get  from accomplishing things when there are obstacles in the way.  Currently, my dream job is to land a gig as a Host on a TV show like Etalk or Entertainment Tonight, or to have my own show where I would cover influential topics that guide people to reach their Maximum Potential.  Programs like “The Hour” with George Strombo and “Q” with Jian Ghomeshi.  That would be a dream come true.

But further down the road I can see my dream job consisting of something different.  Something like this:

Ok now if this post has you excited, it’s time to get really excited as I break it all down for you.

The Dream Job would consist of the following:
I would create a production company that travels around the world filming epic landscapes and all the beauty that the world has provided us to capture.  I would collect footage that I can sell to major motion picture studios so that they can use them in their movies.  After I film such amazing footage, I would go back to my home and start the editing process.  Much similar to the video above, I would edit the footage in such a way that it is in sync to the music.  Rather than buy the music, I will make my own.  With my deep inspirations from Yanni‘s music, and my self taught skills on the piano, I will gather some of the world greatest musicians and orchestrate some incredible “Hans Zimmerman-like” scores that will take you on an emotional roller coaster, much like the emotional roller coasters that movies such as “Gladiator”, “Lord of the Rings”, “Armageddon”, “Saving Private Ryan“, “Pearl Harbor“, and “The Last of the Mohicans” have taken me.

Then I will post the completed videos on Youtube.  (kidding)

lol

So that’s pretty much it!  This “Dream Job” would consist of many of the elements that make me the most happiest.  Things such as flying, music, film, and the use of my imagination.  What’s awesome about this dream job is that as I film from the helicopter, there is a good chance that I would be wearing some epic headphones that would be playing the music in the video above. haha! no joke! I can totally imagine what that would be like!

What would I need to accomplish this?:
- owning or being able to rent a helicopter whenever I choose to

- having incredible cameras that can capture such amazing footage

- having an amazing studio setup that I can use to edit the footage that I filmed

- having access to top of the line studios that I can orchestrate the music similar to ES Posthumus

- a pilots license

- serious cash (or great credit)
and imagination.

That’s all for now.  Hope you liked my blog.  Have a great day.

- Marcos Mendosa

Finding Your Voice

This is a great story.  Jake Zeldin was mercilessly bullied for his stutter, until he found his voice through rap music and is turning his struggle into success.  Congratulations Jake!  Not only is your story an inspiration, but your flow is dirrrtttyyyyyy as well!

New Music Video! – A.D.D. – I KNOW

A song about PURPOSE and FOLLOWING YOUR DREAM NOW MATTER WHAT!

This song signifies so much about having an Alternate Drive and Destiny (ADD).

It’s about everlasting growth and development of one’s self.

Chorus:
“I know where I’ve been and I know where I’m going,
here what I say, can’t you see it’s all flowing,
I’m free,
free to be,
just ME”

Verse 1:
Man I wonder what it’s really gonna take to believe,
that i’m capable of doing anything while I breathe,
it’s a matter of time before I get off my feet,
and I can soar through the skies like the planes that I see,
I’ve been exerted through my efforts just to try to maintain,
the simple pleasures of my life that neglect all the pain,
even though i’m locomotive cuz i push like a train,
i’m still devoured by the essence of the things I can’t change!”

Chorus:

Verse 2:
But i’mma still be victorious no matter my fate,
and I”mma still reign notorious cuz I can create,
I could have been more prepared more alert more aware,
millionaire thoughts inside of me so I can just share,
man to give and receive is like the ultimate pleasure,
while everything in between is like the cycles of weather,
things are constantly changing and I can freely adapt,
like the purpose of man to be released when he’s trapped.”

A Tribute to the Piano & The Effect It Has On Our Emotions

Marcos Mendosa is proud to Present “El Piano”

A Tribute to the Piano & The Effect It Has On Our Emotions

Join us on Monday November 26th, 2012 as we dwindle into a new experience x4!

Performance Concept
Imagine this scenario:
- 4 upright pianos or keyboards.
- 4 Pianists dressed in their own unique black attire, wearing fedoras, and/or masks
- Each piano is placed at a degree that will create a circular set
- Each piano player will have a pianist facing him (think dueling pianos)
- Dry ice embodies the set
- Chairs are placed for the audience members with an itinerary of what to expect from the performance
- The venue is dark, with dim spot lights on each piano
- The pianists don’t speak. Only the narrator speaks to the audience and the pianists follow his direction.

New Page Added – Tap into yourEmotions!

On this page I will be posting a collection of some of my favorite scores from movies that I have really enjoyed.  The power of music is incredible.  It is the gateway to understanding ourselves.  We must learn to allow ourselves to feel our emotions as they are the ultimate guidance systems that we all have.   Music is most definitely life, and life is good when we are vibrating through music.

Music is what emotions sound like my friends :)

Good Morning! First things First!

It’s really simple…., this whole law of attraction thing. Here’s how I’ve come to understand it… Read this carefully and over and over until you either A) start writing your ideas, or B) start taking physical action towards your desires.

Read this Slowly and repeat it until it makes sense or resonates with you.

The Law of Attraction means that when we ALIGN our DESIRES (this means know exactly what it is that you want to manifest in your life) with our ACTIONS (writing a plan, creating a vision board, calling someone to ask for guidance towards your next action step), and TAKE ACTION to do WHAT MUST BE DONE (only you know what action must be taken to fulfill that big word “MUST”), we can expect that GREAT THINGS WILL HAPPEN as a RESULT of our ACTIONS. (It is Law!)

Or in other words:
- know know know know know know what you want KNOW IT!
- write down all the steps needed to make that idea come to life
- ask for help, take a course, look for a grant, apply for financial assistance, (find a way-the actual action of SEARCHING usually proves to work)
- follow through with what you have learned through you reaching out for help
- persist
- persist
- persist with a positive/optimistic POV
- keep your eyes on the prize and be sure to enjoy the journey
- keep going
- keep going
- keep going
- be ready to receive ABUNDANCE
- persist
- persist
- persist
- grow conscious of all the small miracles that you have attracted into your life
- prepare yourself for results to flow into your life
- rinse and repeat.

It’s really easy.

Stick to the plan and go go go until you are happy with the action you have taken.

No Way Out

Yes it’s that time again. It’s that time to share a new verse that was written this weekend! Apparently I’ve been branded as a young, fashion conscious, motivational speaking hip hop artist. Well if that’s what I am, then that is what I will deliver. Sheldon and Niko recently made this epic beat. The beat that resonates deeply within me. The beat is almost dubstep, it’s missing a few elements but its still an amazing production. . Sheldon asked me to write a verse that would resonate with young kids and teenagers who are struggling with confidence and social skills.

He mentioned that he would like the verse to speak to the masses as a message of encouragement towards pursuing their passions and never giving up on their dreams. As I wrote the verse I imagined me rapping to my 12 year old cousin and him rapping parts of the verse back to me and vice versa.

On a personal note I am very proud of the verse. I feel that it s written somewhat poetic and that it delivers justice to the concept that it came from. The rhyme scheme is ridiculous. It’s so on point! Watch the Vlog below to hear a rough edit of the verse over the 1st draft of the instrumental. Tracks called “No Way Out”.

There’s people that wanna test you and people that try to affect you
People that wanna get you
And people that bet you
Can’t succeed can’t be free can’t be the things that you believe
Well I say f f f forget about them
Focus on you

Do the things your born to do
Change your mindset attitude
Respect your enemies
Know your goal
Then lead the path as a man in control
Reach the top then say wassup to all those that just hated
Then lend a hand and say what up man I can help u make it.
It’s not debated I know it’s true

Life is awesome just like you
Make sure you just do you
I found a way to keep it true
I realized I’m the living proof
Not aloof and not a goof
My storys true
Something new
Tell me what u gonna do

I’mma be the best and I won’t rest until I know I made it
I’ll give the world everything I am and that can’t be debated
I’m an all star player in the game and I ain’t down for trading
I appreciate the help my friends now let’s just keep creating!

Sincerely,

Marcos Mendosa

The One’s to Watch in 2013

The One’s to Watch in 2013

This is not a hate blog, or an attempt at getting some cheap publicity. This is a reclamation of sorts. You see, on Friday September 21st 2012 Niko and I attended a private VIP Party for an event that was held at the TIFF Bell Lightbox on September 22nd. The party was nice. We mingled and met many like-minded people who are striving to be their best selves through music and entertainment. The VIP party was the pre-party for the Canadian Urban Music Conference. We managed to get some tickets at the last minute so we decided to go. I wasn’t at all “prepared” to go mingle with industry cats, but I figured charisma, a couple live demonstrations of what I can do, and the courage to approach people with flare would be much better than having a demo and a business card. I guess instilling that belief was just my way of dealing with the hard facts.

Hard facts? Yes the hard facts. The HARD FACTS are:
1. I don’t have a cd
2. I don’t have business cards
3. I don’t have a following of fans
4. I don’t have jack shit

But, as I said previously, I have charisma, skills, and confidence in my art. Niko and I did what we usually do when we arrived. We smiled and said hello to everyone we made eye contact with. As the night progressed we realized there were people there that we had already met at previous events so it was nice to catch up with other acquaintances.

Now lets fast forward through that night, to the next day…..
——————————————————————→>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The next day was a whole other world. The conference itself was huge. There were so many industry cats. It was exciting to be surrounded by the energy that the Canadian music scene had to provide. We arrived a little late, but it was all good. When we went into the conference room there was an A&R, a Manager, and a Record Executive on the panel. In the audience there was an artist that was standing up and speaking to the panelists. He seemed to be very passionate about his concerns. I couldn’t catch the entire question, but I did catch the answers from the panelists. From what it seemed like, I would think that the artist asked something about how come A&R’s and managers don’t scout more Canadian talent to enter into the mainstream Hip Hop scene in all of North America, not just Canada. The panelists responded with honesty and candor. But then again who knows if they were being sincere or just trying to get past the question. It seemed like there was a low energy frequency just floating around the conference room. I saw people slouched deeply into their chairs, and some even sleeping. It caught me off guard. I expected more questions, more life, more ambition from the opportunities that these artists paid for by purchasing a ticket to speak to top industry pro’s.

The next artist made a comment about how in Toronto there seems to be this trend going that has people planning showcases that make the artists pay a certain amount of money via ticket sales to be able to perform. The panelists all had a turn at answering this concern, and it all came down to this:

- keep going with your music
– do as many shows as you can
– put out quality content
– build a fanbase
– when it’s your time, we will find you, and sign you.

LOL!
Anyways, Moving on…

The next panelist to grace the stage was the Featured Guest. Mr Robert Fernandez, manager of International Superstar Pitbull. After they gave the introduction, they opened up the floor for questions. After a brief moment of silence someone asked a question. (brief felt long) I don’t recall what that question was. Next was my turn. I asked Mr Fernandez if they were scouting up and coming Latin Hip Hop Artists and if they planned on developing a new breed of “Pitbulls”. He answered by saying, “yes of course, the next artist we are developing is Fito Blanko”. I looked at him with a sour face and sat down. I was hoping he would say something like “what you think you got what it takes?”, and I would have replied with a “hell yeah” and busted out verse 1 from my song “Milagro”

http://soundcloud.com/a-d-d-mendosa/milagro-miracle

Now here is where things get interesting.

The next question that someone asked him was if he could explain the process of how he became a successful manager. Mr Fernandez went into as much detail as he could. I’ll break it down:

- invested money into a label
– label didn’t do well
– took action to help the label grow
– signed some artists
– dumped more money into the artists
– made connections with other artists (Lil John)
– got introduced to pitbull when he was wearing baggy jeans and had corn rows
– took an interest
– hooked him up with Lil John
– got him on the “Kings of Crunk”
and the rest is history.

As I sat there and listened to him speak about all the money they dumped into Pitbull, all the time that passed, and all the steps he took to get to where he is today, I couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming amount of anger, envy, jealousy, and disappointment. My blood was boiling. I had to leave. I got up and left in an extremely sour mood. I ended up catching the sour vibe that I felt when I first walked into the room. Strange. I went to my car, pulled out my Ipad, and started planning steps that I needed to take to make some major moves with my music career.

I wasn’t feeling those negative emotions towards Mr Fernandez. I was feeling that way towards myself. I hate to say this, but I’ve wasted SO MUCH FUCKING TIME! All the steps and resources needed to manifest ANY GOAL is either a phone call away, a couple of websites away, a meet and greet away, or a few baby action steps away. I’m fully aware of what it takes to make things happen, but since I have created walls around my ambition, I have put off some of the things that I love to do most, WRITE, PERFORM, and SHARE with the world….for a price…. I have never put a value on my art, and therefore that has led me to where I am today, a starving artist.

I’ve put up so many limiting beliefs. It’s sickening. Things like:
– I need a manager to do things for me
– I need an agent
– I need a street team
– Nobody cares
– I don’t have the time to market myself
– I don’t have the money
All of these limiting beliefs are powerful enough to stop me from getting anywhere before I even attempt to start. I’ve had loads of support, I’ve had tons of fans, and I’ve had more than 10,000 hours of freestyling, over 500 songs written to date, and I’ve performed over 120 shows in the past 10 years. I’ve lived the dream. I just didn’t follow through with the next steps.

The way the mind of an unsigned artist should work is like this:
– think of an idea
– find ways to manifest that idea
– take baby action steps towards accomplishing those baby steps
– do not move on to the next step until you accomplish that first step
– stay positive, energetic, optimistic
– believe in the final outcome
– expect nothing but the bliss that comes from knowing your making moves
– let the universe do the rest.

Back to the blog:

I was in such a pissy mood. For the next 4 hours I felt like such a loser. I was angry with myself and fairly confused with the thoughts of contemplating whether or not I should give up on my dream of making a living touring the world making, providing, and sharing music/motivation with people. I just felt like giving it all up, because clearly if I was making any moves I would have been in a different state of mind at the moment. My boys Niko and Sheldon couldn’t even cheer me up, and believe me they tried!

After dinner we stopped by one of Niko’s friends place since we were in the area and Niko had to go grab his bike. We went to Smile Music and Film Productions and the owner Victor Crowl gave us a most welcoming greeting. I would imagine that Mr Crowl has some sort of healing power because immediately he sensed there was something wrong with me and he performed a healing technique on me that changed everything. I won’t get into the details, but lets just say after 10 mins of healing therapy, I felt like a new man! It was amazing. Thank you Victor.

By the time we were ready to leave his studio, Victor asked me “so what you gonna do now”, I said “I’m gonna go back to CUMC and I’m going to be myBestSelf!”

So on we went.

Before heading back into the conference, the following events happened:

We made a pact to go back inside and gather as many twitter contacts as we can so we can tweet this link to every single one of them and show them what we did in the parking lot across the street from the venue. We were extremely adamant about sharing how good we felt doing what we do best. We bust freestyles and we love it. We’re not just artists. We’re Freestyle Artists, and that my friends is a Genre on it’s own as of right now.

While we were in the lobby waiting to head inside, there was cameramen trying to get people who were in line waiting to go in, to sing. Nobody would step up to the plate. Until a man named Marcos Mendosa stepped up.

Imagine a room with about 300-400 people all in a very close proximity to each other. Now imagine a backdrop, a camera, a mic, and lights on the backdrop. As far as I’m concerned, when someone asks me to perform, I’m on it!

I did what I do best. I shared my passions with all of those people and with the camera. Niko and I just went in! Beat box, rap, singing, backflips, positive messages, crowd pleasing, and more!

We were the center of attention. It felt amazing to be my best self once again and to share my love of performing with all of those people who I had never met.

After those random performances, the contacts and twitters began to pour in.

The Moral of the Story is:
1. Never give up on what you love
2. Never stop executing ideas
3. Never stop believing in yourself
4. Never doubt your skills, talents, or abilities
5. Never be afraid to ask for help
6. Never settle. Ever.

So who are “The One’s to Watch” for in 2013?

Niko Sofianos
Owner and Creator of FITHOP
http://www.fithop.com
Performing Artist, Singer, Former Mr. Intercontinental Canada, Philosopher, Recording Engineer

Sheldon DeSouza
Performing and entertaining is probably the most recognized aptitude. Currently working as a session musician (stage and studio) and as an accompanist for dance schools and companies, including: New York’s Martha Graham Studio, Ryerson University, Unionville High School/Arts York, Toronto Dance Theatre, Ballet Creole, Dancemakers, DanceTeq- National Ballet of Canada, George Brown College, Cawthra Park and more. Sheldon is a prized Vocalist, Pianist, Dancer, Drummer and Percussionist. He is a former St. Michael’s Choir alumni who was privileged to tour, record, and perform annually at Massey Hall.

JD Keyz
From the moment JD touched his first note, he felt the urge to keep playing and learning what he was capable of. Always pushing the envelope and experimenting with new sounds JD made progress incrementally over the years. Throughout his early years life has challenged his will to live leaving him hopeless at times but opportunity presented itself as a result of these challenges which led JD back to his piano time and time again. Each time he had no one to hear his pain, but it was the piano that allowed him to express these internal states of turmoil. The music he composed through these moments of expression brought about intricate phrases throughout the story line he arranged. Constantly striving to push the envelope of creativity, experimenting with new sounds at every key struck, increasing dynamics of amplitude and rhythm from key signature to time signature. Increasing and decreasing tempo to find the right sequence to best describe his emotion.
At times he was pleased with his progress surpassing his prior best, but there also seemed to be more possibilities after each passage of notes.
Only to find that this method did not satisfy his hunger for improvement, he started to explore the emotions in others. Yearning to understand his peers he would play for the enjoyment of others hoping to receive their blessings and appraisal for the best sound and most accurate expression derived from the atmosphere created by the audience. He wanted his music to effect people in ways no one else ever did.
He studied the most accomplished of piano players and established musicians to gain inspiration from. Implemented new techniques and exercises taking his style to the next level and was appreciated and respected by his musical peers.

JD Keyz is an aggressive player, his imagination of sound is only comparable to that of epic movie soundtracks with twists of dubstep, trance, and electro.

New Post! My Piano Page

YourBestSelf – 2nd Production

Hey fellow followers, visitors, and blognation. Along my journey to becoming myBestSelf I have taken on a new career choice/hobby, which is filming and editing my own TV show. I have been involved with hosting programs for quite some time, and since nothing has come out of it as of yet, I decided to take matters into my own hands and MAKE IT HAPPEN for myself. So I bought the camera, got the gear, wrote proposals, and freestyled my way into the world of Journalism, Broadcasting, and Film.

This is the second production that I put together.

:)

10 Ways to Develop Your MaxPo!

List of Empowerment

1. Self – Discipline
- guides you to understand your needs and wants. By finding balance in between your desires to have, you can over stand the process needed to take on goals with a controlled perspective on how to manifest. Control your vices by being consciously aware of them and replace your habits with better habits. Self-Discipline unlocks the blockage that your ego has created to slow you down. Without self-discipline you have the potential to lead a reckless life that will get you to places that you will not be happy with. Make a conscious effort to make a positive development to discipline yourself.

2. Intuition (Awareness)
- guides you to create awareness of a special power that every individual on this planet has. This power is infinite and needs to be tapped into through practice and awareness of following your emotional guidance system. A conscious awareness or “gut instinct”, can do great things for a person when making decisions to better themselves.

3. Confidence
- boys, girls, men and women all have the power of confidence to guide them through challenging obstacles. An obstacle that slows many people down is the lack of confidence. Building this skill is essential to taking action towards making dreams come true and making goals manifest.

4. Clarity (Purpose)
- having a clear conscience can do magical things to the process of self development. Vision is essential to being able to move forward with goals. When Clarity is developed, all the action steps needed to make positive moves towards accomplishing a task or goal become easier to see and understand. Clarity of purpose sets the path towards a meaningful life.

5. Energy (Life)
- the universe that we live in offers us a unique form of power over our thoughts. This power can be called many things, one of them being Energy. Physical and mental Energy can be used to guide a person through daily experiences. Physical energy pertains to the energy that a person has to physically make conscious decisions to get through their days. Mental energy is used to keep a person grounded and motivated. Energy is what we are all connected to and therefore determines how we feel. Consider Energy your lifeline. Good energy makes you attract great things. Bad Energy makes you attract bad things. Focus on positive energy and up you will live an abundant life. I promise.

6. Patience
- with patience comes many great things. There is a saying, “all in time”. Patience towards manifesting a goal is part of what keeps a person balanced. When you learn to have patience you can develop the skills needed to take small steps towards making dreams come true and the process towards becoming yourBestSelf becomes enjoyed, rather than rushed.

7. Imagination
- Einstein said “imagination is more important than knowledge”. When you use the creative power that your mind can conjure up, you create channels of thought that create magnificent ideas. The imagination has no limits, no boundaries, and no restrictions. Using your imagination is a powerful way to start up any plan or idea that you intend to create. The imagination is the gateway towards making thoughts become things. It is the method that inspiration uses to inspire.

8. Passion ( Burning Desire)
- you can consider passion the fuel to reach your MaxPo! When a person is passionate about something, they tend to attach a deep sense of appreciation and love to their desire. A burning desire is developed when you apply a substantial amount of passion to something. If you can love something so much that it takes over your consciousness in such a way that it “burns”, well congratulations you now have a passion for something.

9 Curiosity (Wonder)
- to be curious is a wonderful thing. Having and applying divine interest of an idea or of something that you would like to learn more about develops a form of excitement. When a person is curious or wonders about how something is made, earned, or applied, it opens up the channels of creativity. Your mind opens up to future possibilities and allows you to learn openly about what it is that you aspire to learn about.

10. Faith (Belief)
- when all else fails 9 out of 10 humans turn to faith to contain themselves from suffering from an overload of panic due to fear of the unknown. Faith seems to be the only way to calm us down when things turnout bad or worse than we expect. A strong belief system can guide you to reach your maximum potential in many ways. Having the utmost faith or belief that everything will work out can ground you and keep you motivated. Having faith in a higher power is essential to making progress into the unknown. We all want things to work out positively and we don’t always get the results that we wish we could attract. So when you instill faith into your daily thoughts, it adds some light to the end of a dark tunnel. Have faith that great things are coming your way. Believe in the power of good fortune and take positive action steps towards making your dreams become a reality. Faith will acknowledge your efforts and provide you with all the tools you need to formulate a great life plan filled with joy, love, and positive outcomes.

Sincerely,

I Want To Be A Big Brother

selfish[ sel-fish ]
adjective
1. devoted to or caring only for oneself; concerned primarily with one’s own interests, benefits, welfare, etc., regardless of others.
2. characterized by or manifesting concern or care only for oneself: selfish motives.

Selfishness can come through a persons personality in many ways. A lot of the time we are not even conscious of our own selfish thoughts because we don’t directly consider ourselves actually being selfish.

But I have come to realize that I have been selfish quite a bit. With the constant desire to change my habits, improve the quality of my life, and overall better myself, I have grown to be self absorbed with my own progress and success.

Can you guess the keyword from this phrase, “With the constant desire to change my habits, improve the quality of my life, and overall better myself, I have grown to be self absorbed with my own progress and success.” ?

My
My
My

I recall one of the chapters from a book I read a few years back called “Becoming Like God”, the author wrote about eliminating selflessness by cutting out words like I and My from our vocabularies.

I did it for 2 weeks. It was a good training exercise. I realized how often I speak about myself and it made me reconsider many things.

Now 2-3 years later I have realized the same thing.

Although I only have good intentions and I aspire to be myBestSelf specifically so I can manifest the lifestyle design that I daydream of, there are other ways to accomplish such things.

In my opinion, the benefits of helping others is much more beneficial than that of consistently helping yourself.
By helping others you grow through different channels of thought. Rather than feel invigorated by your own efforts to better yourself, you receive benefits from another’s persons energy. Seeing someone smile or show gratitude does something to your soul. It fills it up with love.
Love that cannot be taken away. It’s the kind of love that brings tears to your eyes. Happy tears.

So with that said, I signed up to be a Big Brother today and I hope they accept my application.

Sincerely,
Marcos Mendosa

Who is Marcos Mendosa?
What is his purpose?

There are 3 things you should know:

1. Your probably thinking yourBS stands for yourBullShit. Well, your partially right. It actually stands for yourBestSelf, but since so many of us human-beings carry so much negative bullshit on our minds and put in so much negative substances into our bodies, I decided to give the name of my website a bit of a spin. What is his purpose?

As a Certified Personal Empowerment Life Coach and Aspiring Motivational Speaker, I have been searching long and hard for a niche that will separate me from the rest of the like-minded individuals in this wonderful universe that surrounds us. I have undergone some pretty amazing transformations in my life that have made me bend my will, surrender my ego, strive for success, and turn my awareness from a state of unconscious competence, to Conscious Competence.
It hasn’t been easy making this transformation, but looking back, I can sincerely say that every struggle, every challenge, and every lesson learned has been an experience that I would not take back. 4 years ago I launched my business.

MaxPo! – Maximum Potential – Guiding You To Tap Into Your Potential.

I struggled quite a bit within the process of self-development because I was fighting my own demons at the time. Sub-consciously I deeply felt that I had the knowledge and piece of mind to help others reach excellence within their own lives, but yet I struggled to do it for myself. This lead me to feel like a hypocrite and inevitably slowed down my process to becoming my best self.

Now I have learned to accept the circumstances in my life and not allow myself to be a victim of circumstances that I consciously and sub-consciously manifested for myself. Now I just live in the Now and Thrive at every chance I get.

In comes yourBS.ca
- a blog that operates as a resource center for people who are interested in creating their ideal lifestyle by becoming their Best Selves. YourBS.ca is a place where guests can come to be inspired on a daily basis with blogs, true stories, music videos, vlogs, and music.. The site is designed through a platform that will demonstrate the potential causes and effects of good decisions and bad decisions. YourBS.ca has a slogan that keeps true to the purpose of the site owner. That slogan is “Do What’s Right and What Feels Good”. Through real-life experiences Marcos will blog and vlog his journey to becoming his Best Self. Guests to the site will learn by example.

It’s been awhile since I’ve blasted my music to the online world. I think I gave up on it…. to be honest I did… I pushed and pushed and pushed for many years and saw very little results so I got discouraged and stopped caring. Well, not anymore. Music is life, and as long as I’m writing, recording, making videos, and sharing, I feel complete. So with that said, here’s a collection of some of my music that I’ve recorded over the years. There’s lots more to come so stay tuned. Your support via comments, follows, and shares, is GREATLY appreciated so please show some love and feedback. I need to know you’re listening. It drives me! Oh and BTW, if your a Record Label Owner, Publicist, Manager, Agent, DJ, Musician, or involved in developing people as a brand and know how to rise people to successful areas of public exposure, feel free to email me. I could use a lending hand. Doing it on my own clearly isn’t working, and I am not ashamed to ask for your help.
Enjoy.

Radio Programming: CBC

I feel like I must let out some thoughts about something that has come into my life and has left me intrigued on a daily basis. 3 months ago I started a new job that has given me the opportunity to listen to the radio all day since there is no cd player. Usually I would have Z103.5, Flow 93.5, 92.5, 99.9, and 102.1 on my presets, but that’s changed now. Out of curiosity I began listening to CBC Radio 1 99.1fm. I remember scanning through the radio stations and hearing a voice that sounded very soothing, witty, and charming. Since the radio has the auto-scan feature, I quickly stopped scanning and turned back the dial to that voice that I heard. I left it on the station that caught my attention and listened in with an open mind. It turns out that the voice I heard was that of Mr. Jian Gomeshi from the radio show Q at 10:00am. Immediately after listening in for about 2 minutes I was hooked. I remember thinking to myself, “ wow this guy has a very powerful way of delivering his message”.

I tuned in when he was speaking about “Q News” with Kanye West’s “Flashing Lights” instrumental. I found that the news segment was intriguing. From that moment on I couldn’t change the dial even if I wanted to. I was hooked! I have learnt so much about certain artists from around the world, and topics that relate to cultural diversity, arts, politics, and all sorts of entertainment. I’ve spent hours just watching episodes of Q on the CBC website, and learning the ways of the wise when it comes to writing compelling introductions and asking in depth questions that will captivate a persons ego in such a way that will leave them wanting to answer questions thoroughly. I’m so excited and eager to be sitting in the chair across from him someday in the near future. What’s a guy gotta do? Win some Juno’s? Write a book? Travel the world and come back with an epic story? Invent your own style of music called “Tangoton”? (lol)
The man (Jian) has become a role model in my eyes and for that I salute you! Keep up the amazing work.

Since the day I began listening to CBC Radio 1 I have began to explore the world of CBC radio to the max. I usually start work at 6:30am so from the minute I start to the minute I finish, I’m constantly listening to the all the wonderful programs they have to offer. From “Metro Morning” all the way to “Here and Now” I’ve learned to become a huge fan of the content shared on this station. My personal favourites are “The Current” with Anna Maria Tremonti, “Q” with Jian Gomeshi, “DNTO” with Sook Yin Lee, and “Living Out Loud” with Robin Brown. Each one of these programs teache me something worth learning, and for that I’m ever grateful.

The personalities of each hosts are so easy to listen to, and I find myself very much into the program. The past 3 months I have spread the word about CBC and their radio programming to as many people as I possibly can. I’ve downloaded the App for my iPhone so that I can always keep up with what’s going on when I’m not at work or away from my workspace. That App is remarkable. Through it I have learned about CBC Radio 2 and 3. I had no idea that CBC’s programming was so diverse. Well, I guess I did know since I went to school in the CBC building, but I never looked into it. CBC Radio 3 has amazing programming as well. The podcasts are amazing and the music selection is very entertaining. I’m very eager to get my music played on CBC Radio 3, since it is “The Home of Independent Canadian Music”. If your reading this, I highly recommend you visit http://www.cbc.ca and have a quick browse of everything that CBC has to offer. You won’t regret it! Enjoy!

Letting Off Steam

The Basics

I find that to be successful in anything, you need to have a basic understanding of what it is that you want to accomplish. With this “basic” understanding comes a formula that has to be applied to every step you take. The roots behind every formula stem down to the Who,What,Where,When, and Why. Once you have figured out the questions and answers that come with those 5 W’s, you can then begin to figure out your very own formula that will drive you towards a successful outcome.
For Example:
Who are you?
What do you want?
Where do you want to go?
When do you want to be successful?
Why do you want whatever it is that you want?

Those basic questions can branch out in many different ways. To each his/her own.

Then, when you have figured out the burning desire behind your purpose, you can write out a “Basic” Formula to help guide you along your path to manifestation.

Ask yourself this:
What Are You Good At?

1. I’m good at writing songs.. I have tons!
- write
- record
- post
- make video
- share

2. Im good at writing blogs.
- write
- intrigue the reader
- add photo
- add video
- share

3. I’m good at making thoughts become things
- write
- record
- shoot
- edit
- share

4. I’m good at speaking in public
- write
- prepare accordingly
- perform
- shoot
- edit
- share

In between each of those points there are steps that need to be done in order for you to move on to the next step. You already know what those steps consist of or else you wouldn’t put yourself in the position to desire the outcome of your efforts. So since you already have a “basic” idea of who, what, when, where, and why you want to do whatever it is you aspire to do, you will now have a better chance a succeeding because you have subconsciously prepared yourself for the process that it will take for you to manifest.

NEW SONG! “THE SUIT” BY MARCOS MENDOSA

Crush It Gary Vaynerchuk

Hello yourBS Blog Nation.  Meet Gary

I can say a lot about this experience. It was a moment that I anticipated ever since I read the first page of his book “Crush It”. I would hope that all of you have had a moment where you read a book that changed your life. I’ve had many moments like that but this was different. What made this moment different was that after reading Crush It, I immediately took action. As a matter of fact I would only read one chapter at a time and put in action steps as I followed the books instructions. By doing so I managed to not miss any steps along the way to manifesting my desire to cash in on my passion. It was Crush It that made me start this blog. It was Crush It that motivated me to take control of my life and start organizing my life according to what brings me true happiness.

It was 4 months ago when I met a gentleman in a Starbucks cafe and was presented with this book. I quickly updated my Facebook status saying, “Guys, this amazing book just fell on my lap!”.

The way that it fell on my lap was by what most people would call a “coincidence”. Although there’s no such thing, I’m sure you know what I mean.

I was sitting inside Starbucks doing some work on my laptop and I just so happen to have made eye contact with a gentleman that I’ve seen at that Starbucks consistently for about 5 years and never sparked a conversation with. This time i just had to say qhello. He was sitting across from me and I figured it was time to put myBS principles to use.

We began to have an interesting conversation. It started off with the basics. “Hey, how are you, I’ve seen you around, what do you do for a living etc etc.”.

I told him my story proudly. I explained my passions for motivational speaking, life coaching, film, and music. As I explained my ultimate goals in life, (getting paid to do work on projects involving any one of my passions), he stopped me and said, “you know what I have something for you.”. The gentleman pulled out a small black book with green writing that had a hard to pronounce last name at first glance. The book was only 142 pages long and was titled “CRUSH IT – WHY NOW IS THE TIME TO CASH IN ON YOUR PASSION”.

Boom.

To my astonishment I was blown away. The book literally fell on my lap!

I didn’t even open it to read anything, I just said I’ll be right back and went next door to the Chapters book store that was adjacent to the Starbucks and I bought it.

I came back to the table to show him that I had to buy it and I thanked him for the inspiration.

I recall sitting in my car for 45 minutes in the parking lot, completely hooked and intrigued by the way Gary Vaynerchuk’s writing connected to my soul. The man was on a serious roll. Sentence after sentence he had me wanting to read the next word consistently.

I cleared a good 5 chapters that night. Piece of cake.

The next day I signed up for this blog. I already had loads of content on my iPhone so i was eager to start posting blogs.

I followed all the steps in the book thoroughly and within a week I already had over 500 visits. It was epic!

One of my passions has always been to host a television program. Initially I decided to start a vlog called “YourBS”. A program designed to aspire to inspire society to become their best selves. While I was in the process of planning the content of the show, I had an acquaintance contact me offering a position as the segment producer for a television show called Dare to Dream. I accepted the responsibility and went straight to work.

4 months later, Thursday July 26 I covered a segment at Social Mix 2012 at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto, Canada. The event was a conference hosted by Jugnoo, A Social CRM based company in conjunction with the Remix Project. They had 13 social media experts come and give a keynote to a crowd of 600 people. Among the guest speakers was you know who. Mr Gary Vaynerchuk.

I was told that Gary had a flight delay so he was going to be late. I hoped they I could catch him for a quick 30 second sound clip. Something along the lines of ” Hey this is Gary V and your watching yourBestSelf with Marcos Mendosa.”.

It would have been all I needed.

After I finished interviewing most of the guests I figured its time to pack up and head out.
As I had my back faced towards the main entrance of the media room, I couldn’t see who was stepping in and out of the doorway. As i lifted my camera bag and turned around, to my surprise when I turned around there was Gary V sitting by myself working away on his laptop.

Without hesitation I approached him and said some words of gratitude and appreciation to him. I explained how his book had actually changed my life and how my life has evolved ever since I bought Crush It. I also mentioned that I bought 4 copies that week and gave them away to my friends. As I was faced eye to eye with him speaking directly and partially emotionally, I can admit my eyes began to water up and I had goosebumps on my skin. I told him to look at my arms because I was getting shivers and he pointed at his arms and said, “trust me your not the only one with goosebumps check out my arms.”.

As I was preparing to leave the conversation I mentioned to him that it was too bad I couldn’t get an interview with him but that I’d be more than happy if he can do a quick sound clip for the show.

He said, “of course we can do an interview, let’s sneak one in real quick before I go do my keynote”.

Boom!

The rest is history.

I’d like to give a special thank you to the other guests I interviewed. I learned a lot from each of you and I look forward to applying all that I learned into my own life in the days to come.

Thank you:
Amber Mac (Power Friending – Book)

Danny Brown (Jugnoo – Blogger

Gini Dietrich (SpinSucks – Author)

Saul Colt (The Smartest Man in the World)

Yasser Prevaise (Remix Project)

P.S. that morning Social Mix 2012 was trending #1 globally on Twitter.
